Get your kudos ready - it’s time for the member spotlight, which this week is shining on Astrid Simo. You’d be forgiven for thinking there’s always a spotlight on Astrid, as she seems to brighten any room (or exercise stop) she enters 💡 But that light’s actually coming from the infectious positivity that she brings to MR and life in general. Astrid was a regular face at the mini-bootcamps before Covid forced their suspension, but despite the difficulties dealt out in 2020, she’s stayed active and has even chased some new goals! 🏃‍♀️

Considering her answer to the question ‘What’s your favourite running distance?’ was, “I’m all about the exercises!”, it’s particularly impressive that Astrid recently clocked her longest-ever run of 32km. A run like that is one to be proud of any day, but what made it even sweeter for Astrid was the fact she was running alongside a friend and fellow Midnight Runner, supporting her through her first marathon. As she puts it, “I’ve always been pretty comfortable with half-marathon distances, but I had never pushed myself beyond that.” An amazing accomplishment, Astrid! Way to show us there’s truth in the expression ‘If you want to go far, go together’. 💥

This French femme actually first found MR in sunny Barcelona. A few months after relocating to the Catalonian coast, she took up various social fitness activities as a way to stay active and meet people in her new city. “I bumped into MR without knowing it was MR. I just saw a bunch of people running with music, and it looked FUN” 💃 Well, there’s no denying the Barcelona crew can make anything look fun 🔥 That group of runners blasting music and doing group exercises left a lasting impression on Astrid. So much so, in fact, that when she moved to London she immediately started looking for a social running club – only to find the same group of crazies were running around the Big Smoke! And so her journey with MR began ❤

“I don’t see my fitness life without Midnight Runners any more. This group has helped me push my limits, or the limits I had set myself. At times I thought my sports watch was broken, but no! I’m genuinely just way faster and stronger after joining MR” 💪

That’s awesome Astrid! We can’t wait to be running again with you soon, breaking down those barriers and surpassing our limits! We don’t know when, but soon we’ll bring the music, the exercises, and best of all, our epic community back together. 🎼

Until then, Astrid is making the most of each day. A lover of cooking 👩‍🍳 singing 🎤 yoga 🧘 and photography 📷 she likes to seize every new opportunity with both hands and make every day count. A message we couldn’t love more, especially at the moment. Keep doing you Astrid, that positive energy is contagious!
